Understanding IBC Grades

We use a standardized grading system to help you choose the right IBC for your needs and budget. Every tank is honestly graded so you know exactly what you are getting. Our experienced team inspects each container and assigns grades based on strict criteria.

Grade A

Like new condition with minimal wear. Clean interior, intact labels, excellent valves. Perfect for food-grade applications and when appearance matters.

Best Uses:

  • Food & beverage storage
  • Pharmaceutical applications
  • Clean room environments
  • Customer-facing operations
Grade B

Good condition with light wear. Minor scuffing, fully functional valves and structure. Great balance of quality and value for most industrial applications.

Best Uses:

  • General industrial use
  • Agricultural applications
  • Water storage
  • Non-food chemicals
Grade C

Economy grade with visible wear. Structurally sound, best for non-critical applications. Maximum value when appearance is not a concern.

Best Uses:

  • Waste collection
  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Non-critical storage
  • Temporary projects

IBC Tank Anatomy

Understanding the components of an IBC helps you make informed purchasing decisions and properly maintain your containers. Our IBCs are constructed with high-quality materials designed for durability and safety.

1

HDPE Bottle

High-density polyethylene inner container, resistant to most chemicals and UV light. Available in natural (translucent) or black for UV protection.

2

Steel Cage

Galvanized steel cage provides structural support and protection. Designed for forklift handling and stacking up to 4 units high when full.

3

Discharge Valve

2-inch or 3-inch butterfly valve for controlled dispensing. Camlock fittings available for quick connections.

4

Fill Cap

6-inch or 8-inch fill opening with screw cap and gasket. Vented caps available for pressure equalization.

5

Pallet Base

Steel, plastic, or wood pallet base. Steel and plastic are most durable; wood pallets are more economical.

Product FAQs

What is the difference between 275 and 330 gallon IBCs?

The main difference is height and capacity. 275-gallon IBCs are shorter (46") and fit better in standard trucks and containers. 330-gallon IBCs are taller (53") and offer 20% more capacity. Both use the same footprint (48" x 40") and are compatible with standard pallets.

Can used IBCs be used for food storage?

It depends on the previous contents. Used IBCs that previously held food-grade products and are properly cleaned can be used for food storage. However, containers that held industrial chemicals should not be used for food. We track product history and can provide food-grade certified containers with documented lineage.

How long do IBCs typically last?

With proper care, plastic IBCs can last 5-10 years. The HDPE bottle has a practical lifespan of about 5 years for outdoor use, while the steel cage and pallet can last much longer. Stainless steel IBCs can last 20+ years with proper maintenance.

Do you offer warranties on used IBCs?

Yes! Grade A and Grade B used IBCs come with a 30-day structural warranty. Reconditioned IBCs include a 6-month warranty on new valves and gaskets. New IBCs carry the full manufacturer warranty, typically 1-2 years.

Can IBCs be pressure washed?

Yes, IBCs are designed to be cleaned with pressure washers. We recommend using 1,000-2,000 PSI maximum to avoid damaging the bottle. Hot water (up to 140°F) is safe and helps remove residue. Avoid aggressive chemicals that could degrade the HDPE.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, business checks, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), and wire transfers. For established business customers, we offer Net 30 terms with approved credit. Bulk orders may require deposits.

IBC Buying Guide

Five key factors to consider when choosing the right IBC for your needs

1

Contents

What will you store? Chemical compatibility, food-grade requirements, and temperature sensitivity all affect material choice.

2

Environment

Indoor vs outdoor use, temperature extremes, UV exposure, and space constraints determine the best configuration.

3

Volume

Calculate your storage needs. Consider 275 vs 330 gallon capacity, frequency of refills, and available floor space.

4

Regulations

UN/DOT certification for transport, FDA approval for food, industry standards for your specific application.

5

Budget

Balance upfront cost against lifespan. Used IBCs save money; new ones ensure compliance and longevity.
