What does IBC stand for?
IBC stands for Intermediate Bulk Container. It is a standardized container designed for storage and transport of bulk liquids and granular materials.
What is the standard IBC size?
The most common sizes are 275 gallons (1000 liters) and 330 gallons (1250 liters). Both have a standard 46" x 40" footprint that fits on standard pallets.
How long do IBCs last?
With proper use and maintenance, an IBC can last many years. However, for hazmat and UN-certified applications, IBCs typically have a 5-year service life from manufacture date.
Can IBCs be stacked?
Yes, most IBCs are designed to be stackable. Typically 2-4 high when full, depending on the design. Always check the manufacturer specifications.

What materials are IBCs made from?
Standard composite IBCs have an HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) inner bottle, galvanized steel cage, and wood or plastic pallet. Stainless steel IBCs are also available.
Are IBCs suitable for chemicals?
HDPE IBCs are compatible with many chemicals. Always verify compatibility for your specific substance. We can help advise on suitable options.
What is a UN-rated IBC?
UN-rated IBCs are certified to meet United Nations standards for hazardous material transport. Required for shipping many hazmat substances.
Can I store IBCs outdoors?
Yes, but prolonged UV exposure can degrade the plastic over time. UV-stabilized containers and covers help extend outdoor life.
